Baltimore City College is an IB World School. As the liberal arts, citywide magnet high school for Baltimore City Public Schools, City College provides college preparatory programming with focused studies in the International Baccalaureate (IB) as well as Advanced Placement (AP) Programs.

IB in grades 9 and 10 is an inclusive program of study required of all students. This program is the Middle Years Program (MYP). In grades 9 and 10, International Baccalaureate is an approach to learning that teaches students to understand the inter-relatedness of core subjects, master critical thinking processes, and acquire intercultural awareness. Entering the IB Certificate or prestigious IB Diploma program in the upper grades provides access to over 30 advanced studies courses.

By grades 11 and 12, students engage in the more rigorous two-year expansion of the IB Diploma Program (DP) that requires an in-depth study of world topics, literature, languages, artistic, scientific, and mathematical ideas.

Placement at Baltimore City College is competitive and selective.  Students must meet entrance criteria, which is determined by the Office of Enrollment, Choice, and Transfers in order to qualify for admission.
