Admission
Baltimore City College is an IB World School. As the liberal arts, citywide magnet high school for Baltimore City Public Schools, City College provides college preparatory programming with focused studies in the International Baccalaureate as well as Advanced Placement Programs.
 
IB in grades 9 and 10 is an inclusive program of study required of all students.
This program is titled Middle Years. In grades 9 and 10, International Baccalaureate is an approach to learning that teaches students to understand the interrelatedness of core subjects as well as to master critical thinking processes and to acquire intercultural awareness. Entering the IB Certificate or prestigious IB Diploma program in the upper grades provides access to 30 advanced studies courses.
 
By grades 11 and 12, students engage in the more rigorous two-year expansion of the IB that requires an in-depth study of world topics, literature, languages, and scientific as well as mathematical ideas.
 
 Placement at Baltimore City College is competitive and selective.  Students must meet entrance criteria which is determined by the Office of Student Placement in order to qualify for admission.
