Mission Statement The Baltimore City College High School Marching Knights’ mission is to provide all participants with the aesthetic, technical, scholastic, social, and life long learning skills for appreciating and interacting in the world of music. To establish a foundation in a discipline such as music will enhance personal and occupational success as a productive citizen Marching Knights Course Description Department : Music Name : Baltimore City College Marching Knights Duration : Full School Year Prerequisite : None Description : The Marching Knights includes members of the Concert Band, Wind Ensemble, and Jazz Band, and is a required component of band class. All band members are strongly urged to attend band camp, which is held in August. Students are expected to strive for polished marching performances at football halftime shows, parades, and band competitions; as well as musical growth in Concert and Jazz Band. The Band Director will distribute a list of performances and rehearsal dates. Parents and students are expected to read, sign, and abide by the Marching Knights’ Handbook. Goal : To produce an excellent instrumental unit that can march and play, look neat in appearance, and proudly represent Baltimore City College High School and the Baltimore City community. Objectives : To provide a musically and physically challenged atmosphere for students of all levels of experience. To develop a sense of team work essential to a quality band performance. To provide opportunities for service. To perform music of various styles and discipline. To provide the school with a centerpiece for spirit and community pride. To elevate and expend a student’s self worth in areas of responsibility and self esteem. |
